About this product

Fredy Morales’ father purchased the land in 1963. At that time, the only access was on foot or horseback. Initially, there was no cultivation, but in 1982, Fredy took over and turned it into a small coffee farm. He acquired access to a nearby water source, and built road access for vehicle accessibility. Eventually, they built a mill too!
The climate of the region is pleasant - the temperature varies between 14-28 degrees Celsius, and the annual rainfall ranges at about 1800 mm per year. The topography is rugged because it is located in the mountainous region of the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes. The natural topography poses difficulties for cultivation and transportation, amongst other things. To conserve soil and biodiversity on the farm, coffee plants are maintained with a canopy formed by native trees that both function as shade and as a source of organic matter production, which enriches the soil.
Finca Rosma has been classified as a sustainable coffee farm, taking care of two basic criteria: Environmental and social responsibility - they offer homes, schools and medical care for farm employees. To conserve soil and biodiversity - the plantation is grown in the shade. This is beneficial for protecting the native forest and wildlife.
